After several years in higher education studying various art courses trying to find out where my niche lay I settled into a ceramics degree course at Falmouth College of Arts, after my degree course life pretty much took over, having a family and paying the bills became the priority. In the last couple of years my love of ceramics has sparked again and presented with new opportunities and a new outlook on life I’m ready to get back into the world of clay. I take my inspiration from the natural world, all of it fascinates me, the textures, colours and natural forms of all types of nature be it plants, flowers, fascinating life under the sea or insects attract my attention. I take it all in and see if I can transfer them to the ceramic form. I love texture and try to emulate textures found in nature onto the surface of my pieces. I used to work primarily in very grogged stoneware clays but have in recent years preferred to work in porcelain and earthenware clays, always trying to refine my work, I enjoy the delicate nature of the porcelain and I feel my patience in refinement has grown because of it.Recently my love of raku has awoken and I very much look forward to a new venture on the horizon of both raku and pit firing, I find these firing techniques exciting in that you never quite know what the finished piece is going to end up like
